thematic q2

Violence against women and children is still a dominant social concern that requires joint efforts for its total eradication. In the Philippines, laws such as the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act (RA 9262), the Anti-Rape Law of 1997 (RA 8353), the Safe Spaces Act (RA 11313), and the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2022 (RA 11862) are some of the most important instruments for the protection of the rights and welfare of women and children. Despite these legal frameworks, most victims remain unaware of their rights or unable to access support due to stigma, fear, or lack of resources. This advocacy, "Empower, Protect, and Uplift," is aimed at addressing these challenges by raising awareness about the forms and impacts of violence, empowering women to know and exercise their rights, and fostering a culture of respect and accountability. The movement will inform people on legal protections in place and engage active participation from all: men, women, and youth, through education campaigns, community workshops, and digital outreach in creating safe spaces and support survivors. Emphasizing the importance of collective action and continuous vigilance, "Empower, Protect, and Uplift" imagines a society free from violence, fear, and discrimination for women and children while they are thriving in spaces that respect their dignity and rights.
