new year, new me

This New Year, I embrace the "New Year, New Me" mantra by being focused on personal growth and positive change. I set goals for myself to become more disciplined and motivated in the pursuit of my dreams while still finding time for self-care and mental well-being. I plan to develop better habits, such as staying active, managing my time effectively, and surrounding myself with uplifting people. It’s a chance to let go of past mistakes and start fresh with a clearer vision for the future. This year, I’m determined to be the best version of myself and make the most out of every opportunity.

how i spent my christmas vacation

It was actually a Christmas break to remember for my life since it was with my family and dear ones. The house was made pretty and joyful through the vibrant lights and vibrant decorations. We were all gathered to have a special supper on Christmas Eve, enjoy some tasty food, tales, and laughs. The rest of the days were spent in bonding activities, including visiting family, playing games, and watching movies. I also took some time to reflect on the year that had passed and make plans for the next one. I was reminded of the value of appreciation and family during this quiet and happy break.

Violence against women and children is still a dominant social concern that requires joint efforts for its total eradication. In the Philippines, laws such as the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act (RA 9262), the Anti-Rape Law of 1997 (RA 8353), the Safe Spaces Act (RA 11313), and the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2022 (RA 11862) are some of the most important instruments for the protection of the rights and welfare of women and children. Despite these legal frameworks, most victims remain unaware of their rights or unable to access support due to stigma, fear, or lack of resources. This advocacy, "Empower, Protect, and Uplift," is aimed at addressing these challenges by raising awareness about the forms and impacts of violence, empowering women to know and exercise their rights, and fostering a culture of respect and accountability. The movement will inform people on legal protections in place and engage active participation from all: men, wome...

Born on November 16, 1890, in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, Quirino came from a modest background. His parents, Don Mariano Quirino and Doña Gregoria Mendoza, instilled in him the values of hard work and perseverance. Despite financial hardships, Quirino pursued his education assiduously, eventually earning a law degree from the University of the Philippines in 1915. Life experiences during those early years had instilled in him a commitment to public service and a vision for national progress. Quirino started as a lawmaker, serving first as a representative for Ilocos Sur in 1919 and later as senator in 1925. In both legislatures, he presented himself as a proponent for economic and social reforms. He was a member of the Constitutional Convention in ...

The observance of National Indigenous Peoples Month 2024, along with the 27th anniversary of the Indigenous Peoples Rights Act (IPRA), underscores the importance of safeguarding the rights and preserving the cultural heritage of Indigenous Peoples (IPs). The theme "Mga Katutubo at Katutubong Dunong: Pahalagahan, Pangalagaan at Parangalan" or Valuing, Nurturing, and Honoring Indigenous Peoples and Indigenous Knowledge means that a multifaceted approach to the protection, recognition, and promotion of Indigenous identities and traditions should be done. The observance amplifies awareness of IPs' contribution to the society and their unique knowledge systems in the wider communities that offer respect and understanding.   One way in which this celebration contributes to the cause of Indigenous rights is through educational and awareness-raising efforts. In this regard, by highlighting the importance of Indigenous knowledge, customs, and traditions, it bridges the gap between...

The Philippines, an archipelagic nation, is highly vulnerable to climate change due to increasing frequency and intensity of extreme weather events. Rising sea surface temperatures fuel these calamities, causing catastrophic loss of lives, homes, and livelihoods. Sea level rise leads to flooding, coastal erosion, and saltwater intrusion, exacerbated poverty, and disrupts agricultural productivity. Deforestation and poor land management contribute to environmental degradation, reducing natural barriers against disasters. Addressing these challenges requires robust policies, community-led initiatives, and international cooperation to build adaptive capacities and ensure a sustainable future for the nation.
